When livestock feed is provided solely through grazing (and possibly hay), it is a one-sided diet that they are offered, and it is therefore extra important to have mineral supplements to ensure the desired development and growth. It is simple knowledge that animals have nutritional needs that include a number of macro- and microminerals, and also that grass has a low and unreliable content of minerals.

Unfortunately, it can feel like a jungle to navigate the types of mineral supplements that are offered. They differ in form, content and, not least, price. Some types of minerals for grazing livestock cost twice or more per kg than others, but surely it is OK if it is much better and you only use half as much of it? It is difficult to understand what the best strategy is, and no two livestock farmers have the same starting point.

MicroFeeder has now developed an app that quickly and easily provides answers to how much it costs to use a given mineral feed if the animals' needs for mineral supplements during grazing are to be covered. The app can be used by everyone. It includes cattle, sheep and horses and is available in Danish, English, German and French.
